POSCO TJ Park Foundation selected 25 Asian humanities and social science research support projects in 2018

On May 25, POSCO TJ Park Foundation selected 25 Asian humanities and social science research support projects in 2018. A total of 270 researchers from Korea and Asian universities applied for the 13th research contest this year, displaying their great interest.
The Asian Humanities and Social Science Research Support Project, as part of the POSCO Asia Fellowship, aims to support intellectuals such as scholars, professors and researchers in Korea and Asian countries to research in depth the issues of humanities and society in Asia. A total of 281 people from 15 countries were selected over the last 12 years and they have been provided with \6.2bil of support.
In particular, this year, many research projects on the major issues in Asia have been selected (e.g. Comparison of International Cooperation on Transboundary Air Pollutants in Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia by Prof. Lee, Tae Dong from Yonsei University; A Study on the Enhancement of the Function of the Korean Public Pension System for the Security of the Aged: With focus on the cases in Japan” by Prof. Choi, Yoon Yeong from Korea University; and Comparison of Youth Employment Trends in Korea, China and Japan by Prof. Heo, Seong Ho from Jung-Ang University).
Meanwhile, in November of this year, POSCO TJ Park Foundation will arrange occasion for making presentation on interim achievements of the research projects, so that scholars make presentation and discuss their research projects and research methods and share information between among the scholars of humanities and social science, building networks.
POSCO TJ Park Foundation will endeavor to make Asian Studies be firmly rooted in the domestic academic world by shedding new light on culture and value of Asian people and promoting mutual academic cooperation through the Asian Humanities and Social Science Research Support Project.
