The POSCO TJ Park Foundation selected Lieutenant Lee Chang-gyun, who jumped into the waves to save citizens, as “POSCO Heroes Fellow”

-On July 6th, Lieutenant Lee Chang-gyun saved lives of citizens at risk of drowning at Hwajin Beach, Pohang

-He became the second fellow following the three firefighters who fought forest fires in Gangwon-do

 

The POSCO TJ Park Foundation (Chairman Sunuk, Kim) selected the Lieutenant Lee Chang-gyun as “POSCO Heroes Fellow”, who saved the life of a man and a woman, who were at risk of drowning, Hwajin Beach, Pohang on July 6th, and visited the Pohang Northern Police Station to delivered a fellow certificate and scholarship certificate for his children to him.

 

Lieutenant Lee Chang-gyun saw two adults who were playing in the shallow waters of the beach and suddenly drowning in a sudden wave. He jumped into the sea without hesitation and swam 70 meters to rescue them. The accident site was very dangerous because of strong winds and high waves.

 

The POSCO Heroes Fellowship, a scholarship program established this year, is aimed to support the righteous men and woman who have sacrificed themselves for the sake of national and social justice or their children for continuing to study in a stable manner.

 

A POSCO TJ Park Foundation official said, “POSCO Heroes Fellowship will raise social interests in the righteous behavior that can be a social example, and contribute to creating a just society where people help each other in difficult situations”.
