  • Over the Past 20 Years, 676 Students from Pohang and Gwangyang Have Received KRW 7.8 Billion in Scholarships

The POSCO TJ Park Foundation (Chairperson: In-hwa Chang) selected 40 first-year university students from Pohang and Gwangyang as the 20th class of POSCO Vision Scholars and held a scholarship certificate award ceremony on September 19 at POSCO Center in Seoul.

Each scholar will receive a living allowance scholarship of KRW 2.5 million per semester throughout their undergraduate studies.

Launched in 2006, the POSCO Vision Scholarship Program supports outstanding students from Pohang and Gwangyang who demonstrate the potential to become future leaders in their communities and the nation. Over the past 20 years, the Foundation has awarded a total of KRW 7.8 billion in scholarships to 676 students.

This year, the Foundation increased the proportion of scholarship recipients majoring in science-related fields while also expanding opportunities for talented students from multicultural families.

In addition to financial assistance, POSCO Vision Scholars are offered a wide range of development opportunities, including overseas volunteer programs, career mentoring, regional networking activities, and small-group networking events. These programs are designed to help scholars broaden their perspectives, build meaningful connections, and prepare for their future careers.

At the award ceremony, Eunseok Choi, a scholarship recipient and student at KAIST, shared his aspirations, saying, "I hope to become a world-class researcher in science, repay the support I have received through this scholarship, and dedicate my future to giving back to my community and my country."

The POSCO TJ Park Foundation will continue to grow together with local communities while expanding customized scholarship programs that empower students to pursue their dreams and realize their full potential as future leaders.
