A Total of 132 POSCO Heroes Honored Since 2019
The POSCO TJ Park Foundation (Chairperson: In-hwa Chang) recognized 30 Heart Savers as POSCO Heroes for saving lives through cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) during 2024. An award ceremony was held on May 8 at POSCO Center in Seoul, where Young-pal Lee, Vice Commissioner of the National Fire Agency, joined the Foundation in presenting certificates and scholarships to the recipients.
The Foundation selected the 30 awardees through a review process from approximately 422 civilian Heart Savers recommended by the National Fire Agency.
The Heart Saver program, introduced by the National Fire Agency in 2008, recognizes emergency responders and members of the public who successfully revive victims of cardiac or respiratory arrest through emergency interventions such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Since last year, the POSCO TJ Park Foundation has selected POSCO Heroes from among civilian Heart Savers who are not healthcare professionals, recognizing their exceptional courage and lifesaving actions.
Since launching the POSCO Heroes program in 2019, the POSCO TJ Park Foundation has honored public officials and ordinary citizens who have demonstrated extraordinary courage and selflessness by protecting others during personal emergencies or national disasters. To date, a total of 132 individuals have been recognized as POSCO Heroes, with the Foundation continuing to highlight their dedication and inspire a culture of courage and civic responsibility.
