Scholarship Award Ceremony for POSCO Asia Fellowship & POSCO Vision Scholarship

On August 27, the POSCO TJ Park Foundation (Chairman Kim Sun-Uk) awarded scholarship certificates to 18 newly selected Asia POSCO Fellowship students and 50 POSCO Vision Scholarship students at the POSCO Baegunsan Youth Training Center in Gwangyang. The event also included a 2-night, 3-day workshop.
The POSCO Asia Fellowship is one of the biggest programs, operated by the POSCO TJ Park Foundation. It invites young talents in science and engineering from Asian countries to pursue master’s and doctoral degrees at Korean universities. The fellowship covers tuition and living expenses, with the total annual scholarship amounting to approximately KRW 1.3 billion. Additionally, the program offers opportunities to experience Korean economy, and culture. Since its establishment in 2005, the POSCO TJ Park Foundation has supported 532 students from 33 countries.
The POSCO Vision Scholarship selects outstanding university students from the Pohang and Gwangyang regions each year, providing support to help them grow into valuable members of our society. The scholarship offers KRW 5 million per year for 7 semesters, starting from the second semester of their freshman year until graduation. The total annual scholarship amount is approximately KRW 800 million. Since its inception in 2006, the POSCO Vision Scholarship has supported 636 students.
This year's combined award ceremony was extended to a 2-night, 3-day schedule to offer more meaningful programs for the students. The workshop included various special lectures and experiential programs.
In the welcome speech of the POSCO TJ Park Foundation Chairman Kim Sun-Uk stated, "I hope that through today’s award ceremony, new relationships will be formed, and you will develop connections that positively influence one another." She added, "POSCO TJ Park Foundation will continue to support and cheer you on as you pursue your dreams and goals."
For the POSCO Asia Fellowship studetns, the foundation plans to provide additional support beyond scholarships, including 'Korean language instruction' for faster adaptation to life in Korea and various 'Korean cultural experience programs' to ensure a successful study experience in Korea.
For the POSCO Vision Scholarship scholars, in addition to the scholarships, the foundation will also operate various programs to support their growth, such as 'Global Expedition' during vacation periods and 'Career Mentoring' to assist with career planning and job search activities.
The POSCO TJ Park Foundation will continue its efforts to identify and support outstanding talent and implement various programs that can have a positive impact on our society.
