POSCO TJ Park Foundation organizes a seminar on the theme ‘Climate Change and the Environment’

- Joint seminar held at POSCO Center with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, Germany

- The second seminar on May 25th is scheduled for a total of 4 sessions until September in 2022

 

The POSCO TJ Park Foundation (Chairperson Kim Sun-uk) successfully hosted the second lecture of the "Global Citizen Dialogue - Future by us” seminar series, "Climate Change and the Environment", at the POSCO Center Art Hall on May 25, 2022.

The seminar was conducted with the keyword ‘Climate Change and Environment’ and was conducted in the order of presentation of Jeong-yub Lee, head of the POSCO ESG Management Group, and talks with Deputy Director Yong-geun Kim of the POSTECH Corporate Citizenship Research. During the seminar, Mr. Lee explained the environmental side effects of rapid industrial development on the planet and the side effects on individuals, and introduced various devices for sustainable development implemented by POSCO Group.

 

Fedra Rossi from Yonsei University, a POSCO Asia fellow who participated in the seminar, said, "I thought climate change and environmental issues would be the most important part of moving forward to the fourth industrial revolution." She said, "It was time to go beyond the various discussions about climate and the environment and think deeply about what we we should do to be able to save our environment in the long run."

 

The seminar, which was organized in collaboration with the POSCO TJ Park Foundation and the German Friedrich Naumann Foundation, was aimed at international students from Asia, vision scholarship students from university students in Korea, and international students from Germany invited by the Naumann Foundation. Due to the impact of COVID-19, only a small number of people attended the event offline, but it became a place where about 100 people participated online and interacted with speakers.

 

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation is a German non-profit civic education institution with offices in 35 countries and activities in more than 60 countries. Since its opening in 1987, it has been running civic education programs on various topics such as smart cities and reunification. The seminar series, organized in collaboration with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation in Korea, began with Smart City and covered climate change and technology, and will be followed by two seminar sessions on the themes of ‘Metaverse’ in July and ‘Space’ in September.
