On April 8, the POSCO TJ Park Foundation held a certificate ceremony for students who entered the spring semester of 2022. The event was accompanied by a scholarship ceremony and a Korean cultural experience to comfort students who were tired of corona.

Chairman Kim Sun-wook of the Foundation personally awarded the scholarship, congratulated and encouraged the students, and said, "I hope that studying in Korea will provide a good opportunity to know each other through bonds and networks between Korean students and scholars, and to understand each other's culture." "I hope that exchanges and cooperation will continue and grow into young leaders who will be responsible for the future of harmony and prosperity in Asia, even if they return to their home country after their studies."

Together with the deed awarding, the three fellows who first experienced life in Korea for bachelors, masters, and exchange students, respectively, took the time to share their experiences so that other fellows could have a beneficial time in Korea. KAIST's Sirakosit (Thailand) fellow, who completed his bachelor's degree in Korea, gave a presentation on ‘Why you should study abroad in Korea’, Bezad (Turkmanistan) fellow, who completed his master's degree in Korea at Seoul University of Science and Technology, gave a presentation on ‘Korea's Financial Services: How to Use Internet Banking and Kakao Pay’, and Lee Ja-won (Taiwan) fellow at Korea University, who participated in the exchange student program at Sungkyunkwan University, gave a presentation on the topic of ‘a must-visit hot spot in Korea’.

Sharing experiences in studying in Korea and presenting my motivation and vision for studying in Korea received great applause from the attendees. Najwa (Malaysia) fellow of Yonsei University said, "I was afraid that it is the first time I have to start Korean life alone, but I am so firm and thankful that there is the POSCO TJ Park Foundation and other fellows who help me study abroad." He said, "I am looking forward to the Pohang Steel Mill Tour that will take place in the second half of the year."

▲ Following the award ceremony of the scholarship certificate, they are conducting a cultural experience of “making a Korean seal” by writing my name in Korean and making it into a stamp.

After the ceremony, students conducted a ‘stamp-making’ experience as a Korean cultural experience. Scholars were impressed that Hangul could spell all pronunciations, and responded that they were happy to write their names in Hangul.

Each year, the POSCO TJ Park Foundation supports 50 young Asian talents to complete master's and doctoral programs at leading graduate schools in Korea, such as POSTECH, and conducts various scholarship networking programs aimed at promoting understanding of Korean culture and mutual exchange between scholars.
