On Sep 29, POSCO Indonesia held scholarship certificate conferment ceremony as part of “Scholarship for Asian Universities” program to congratulate scholarship students from 3 universities in Indonesia (University of Indonesia, Bandung Institute of Technology, and University Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa).

 

The POSCO TJ Park Foundation’s “Scholarship for Asian Universities” is a scholarship program intended to provide scholarships to students enrolled in top universities in each Asian country with the aim of contributing to the promotion of exchanges and cooperative relations between Korea and Asian countries, and it has been continuing since 2005.

 

Having received applications from 3 Indonesian universities, the POSCO TJ Park Foundation has selected a total of 40 students (15 students from University of Indonesia, 15 students form Bandung Institute of Technology, and 10 students from University Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa) through document screening and online interviews under the supervision of POSCO Indonesia.

 

Amid the continuing spread of COVID-19. 2020 Scholarship for Asian Universities is being conducted online by universities. Although it is conducted online, POSCO Indonesia and university officials attended to congratulate the scholarship students in accordance with the previous scholarship certificate conferment ceremony order.

 

On this day, Yong-nam, Park, Managing Director of POSCO Indonesia and employees to POSCO Indonesia; Dr. Devie Rahmawati, Dean of Student Affairs, University of Indonesia; Dr. H. Suherna, Vice-President of University Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa; and Mr. Prasetyo, Dean of Student Affairs, Bandung Institute of Technology, attend the ceremony.

 

At this event, Yong-nam, Park, Managing Director of POSCO Indonesia said: “Based on the philosophy of “Corporate Citizenship”, POSCO will not only overcome the current crisis and fulfill its responsibilities as the world's best steel company, but also contribute to making a better society. I hope by taking pride as Asia Fellow, scholarship students would grow into world leaders beyond Indonesia and Asia.”

 

Prof. Devie Rahmawati, Dean of Student Affairs, University of Indonesia, congratulated the scholarship students, saying that POSCO's support would indirectly contribute to Indonesia's excellent future, thus serving as a strong support for students so that they can achieve their dreams.

 

Meanwhile, the POSCO TJ Park Foundation provide scholarships to about 200 undergraduate students from 18 universities in 10 Asian countries, including Indonesia this year, adding momentum in training talented human resources in Asia.
