POSCO TJ Park Foundation (Chairman Sunuk Kim) selected 2 courageous citizens who saved the driver of a car, which rammed into a pier and caught on fire, and put out the fire with a fire extinguisher on June 9 in Sasang-gu, Busan, and will be rewarding them with fellowship certificate and scholarship.

The driver in the 60s, who drove into a pier in the attempt to avoid collision with a motorcycle, was suffering from a disability and was trapped in a burning car without consciousness.

Jang-hyuk Lee, who was selected as POSCO Heroes, witnessed a fire burning from the vehicle, immediately grabbed the fire extinguisher at the store he was running, and jumped into the scene to put out the fire.  Seul-ah Lee, who was also selected as POSCO Heroes, dragged the unconscious driver out of the car and performed emergency measures, and helped put out the fire with a fire extinguisher from a nearby convenience store.

Saved with their help, the drive was safely moved to the hospital for treatment and is recovering health now.

POSCO TJ Park Foundation’s staff stated that they “selected them to honor their full commitment and sacrifice to jump into the dangerous situation and save a previous life.”
