- 61 Civilian Heart Savers Recognized Since 2024 as Valuable Role Models for Society

- Certificates and Scholarships Presented in Recognition of Citizens Who Saved Lives Through Courageous Action

The POSCO TJ Park Foundation (Chairperson: In-hwa Chang) held an award ceremony on April 25 at POSCO Center in Seoul, honoring 20 civilians as this year's POSCO Heroes Heart Savers for saving lives through prompt cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and dedicated emergency response during cardiac arrest emergencies.

The POSCO Heroes program is one of the Foundation's flagship social contribution initiatives, recognizing and supporting individuals who demonstrate extraordinary courage and selflessness by risking themselves to save the lives of others. Since 2024, in partnership with the National Fire Agency, the Foundation has selected POSCO Heroes Heart Savers from among certified civilian Heart Savers through a rigorous evaluation process, with the goal of promoting a culture of respect for life and encouraging bystander intervention.

Following the recognition of 11 recipients in 2024 and 30 recipients in 2025, the Foundation selected 20 additional Heart Savers this year, bringing the cumulative total to 61 civilian Heart Savers honored under the program. The Foundation regards these individuals—who acted without hesitation at the critical moment between life and death—as true heroes whose courage and compassion strengthen society. It remains committed to recognizing their extraordinary contributions and preserving the value of their selfless service.

During the ceremony, certificates and scholarships were presented to 20 citizen heroes who stepped forward to save lives in everyday settings—including restaurants, sports facilities, and workplaces—where they encountered individuals experiencing sudden cardiac arrest and courageously performed lifesaving emergency care.

Mr. Jonghee Lee, one of this year's POSCO Heroes Heart Savers, shared his thoughts at the ceremony, saying, "The moment I saw someone collapse, my body reacted before I had time to think. I'm truly grateful that the CPR training I had received helped save a precious life."

A representative of the POSCO TJ Park Foundation stated, "The courage shown by these heroes, who acted without hesitation to save the lives of others in critical situations, makes our society safer and more compassionate. We hope their noble spirit of selfless service will inspire people across society."

Since launching the POSCO Heroes program in 2019, the Foundation has recognized individuals who have demonstrated exceptional courage and dedication in protecting others during personal emergencies and national disasters. To date, 156 heroes have been honored, and the Foundation continues to share their inspiring stories to promote a culture of courage, compassion, and civic responsibility.
