  • 19 New Scholars Selected for the 22nd POSCO Asia Fellowship Program

  • Scholarship Eligibility Expanded to 27 Countries Worldwide Beginning in 2026

The POSCO TJ Park Foundation (Chairperson: In-hwa Chang) held the 22nd POSCO Asia Fellowship Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony and Graduation Farewell Event on March 12 at POSCO Center. During the ceremony, newly selected scholars received their scholarship certificates, while graduating scholars were recognized and celebrated as they embarked on the next stage of their academic and professional journeys.

This year, the Foundation selected 19 new POSCO Asia Fellows. Launched in 2005, the POSCO Asia Fellowship is the Foundation's flagship global scholarship program, providing tuition and living expenses to outstanding international students pursuing master's and doctoral degrees at graduate schools in Korea. Over the past 22 years, the program has supported 562 scholars, with cumulative scholarship funding totaling approximately KRW 23 billion.

This year's selection marks a significant milestone as the Foundation expanded the program beyond its traditional focus on Asia. Beginning in 2026, eligibility has been broadened to include applicants from 27 countries worldwide. The newly selected scholars come from a diverse range of regions, including Europe and North America (Germany, the United States, and the United Kingdom), Latin America (Brazil), and Asia (Malaysia, Vietnam, and Indonesia).

The scholars will pursue graduate studies and research in a wide range of disciplines—including life sciences, engineering, public administration, and Korean studies—at leading Korean institutions such as Seoul National University, Korea University, Yonsei University, POSTECH, the Academy of Korean Studies Graduate School of Korean Studies, and the KDI School of Public Policy and Management. Through their academic pursuits and cultural exchange in Korea, the scholars are expected to broaden their global perspectives while strengthening their professional expertise.

The event celebrated both the beginning of the newly selected scholars' academic journeys and the achievements of graduating scholars. Among this year's graduates, several will continue their research as postdoctoral fellows after earning their doctoral degrees, while others will remain for an additional semester to complete their dissertations and further their research.

The POSCO TJ Park Foundation will continue to provide comprehensive support so that scholars can pursue their studies in a stable academic environment. The Foundation also plans to strengthen its global alumni network by expanding exchange and networking programs that foster lasting connections among scholarship recipients around the world.
