Five POSCO-Asian Fellows(PAFs) from Myanmar visited several cultural heritage sites in Seoul. They had the opportunity to explore these artistic treasures and thoroughly enjoyed their first-hand experiences. Let’s take a look at their visit!

We started our day feeling a brisk chill in the air, around -10°C, when we met at the city hall station at 10:00 a.m. Excitedly, we went to Deoksugung Palace, a beautiful historical site home to Korea's last royal family. The intricately designed buildings allowed us to feel the history of the Korean royal legacy!

Next, we visited the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. We were drawn to the vibrant ink art exhibits, each with its own fascinating story. After that, we explored Dondeokjon Hall, a lovely Western-style building from the Daehan Empire. We enjoyed looking at its exhibition hall and were fascinated by the vintage light bulbs.

We also joined an English-guided tour of Seokjojeon, the Daehan Empire History Museum, at 11:50 a.m. The tour was well-organized, allowing us to comfortably learn as we learned about the treasures of the last royal family and Korea’s rich culture.

After sightseeing, we treated ourselves to delicious Korean barbecue at a nearby restaurant. While we enjoyed delicious grilled dishes, we had fun conversations about our studies and shared how we unwind. The lunch was delicious, but what truly matters is not just the food we enjoyed but the company we shared during the meal.

Our exploration continued at the Cheong Wa Dae, the South Korean presidential office, where we visited its main building, the presidential residence, and the guest reception hall (Yeongbingwan). It was fascinating to learn about the country’s political history and culture!

We had coffee and resumed our lively conversations to wrap up our wonderful day. The gathering was a valuable opportunity to share, reflect, and learn from each other's challenging and joyful experiences. Although our time together was short, we truly valued each other’s company. It was also a joy to see our Myanmar community grow stronger! We are deeply grateful for POSCO's support, which enabled us to forge invaluable connections during this joyful gathering.

The POSCO TJ Park Foundation's POSCO Asia Fellowship invites about 50 students from Asia to Korea and provides full tuition and living expenses for them to complete master's and doctoral programs at prestigious science and engineering graduate schools such as POSTECH, Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and Korea University.
