Jeong Gi-ro, Chief Executive Officer, has devoted more than 31 years to the development of proprietary technologies for core semiconductor and display manufacturing equipment since founding Konic Systems (now AP Systems) in 1994. By localizing highly sophisticated precision equipment that had previously relied heavily on imports, he helped achieve technological self-reliance and generated significant import-substitution effects. His relentless pursuit of innovation laid a crucial foundation for the Korean equipment industry to expand into the global market.
In particular, he successfully developed the Excimer Laser Annealing (ELA) system, a key piece of equipment in OLED panel manufacturing, and achieved an extraordinary accomplishment by securing over 90% of the global market share. He further strengthened the company’s global competitiveness through world-class laser and thermal processing technologies. The company’s receipt of the USD 400 Million Export Tower Award demonstrated that its technologies were recognized and trusted in international markets. These achievements reflect his ability to integrate advanced expertise in control instrumentation and electrical and electronic engineering into corporate management.
Guided by his management philosophy that “technology should contribute to the nation,” he demonstrated exceptional entrepreneurial leadership by maintaining strong investments in research and development even during periods of economic uncertainty. In recognition of his contributions, he has received numerous honors, including the IR52 Jang Young-shil Award, the Industrial Service Merit Medal, and a Minister’s Commendation from the Ministry of Science and ICT. In 2025, his organization was also recognized as an outstanding R&D institution with the Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office Award. Through continuous innovation and technological excellence, he has made significant contributions to the advancement of Korea’s industrial competitiveness and technological development.
