Achievement
Se-Young Jeong is a physicist, who has elucidated the operating principle of metal oxidation at the atomic level for the first time in the world.

Professor Jeong has succeeded in producing copper single crystals into the thinnest atomic monolayer (0.2nm) level of ultra-flat films using self-developed technology. He has also revealed a new fact that copper films under these conditions do not oxidize at room temperature. With this research achievement, copper, which has been limited in use due to oxidation issues, has gained new attention as a semiconductor circuit material that can replace expensive gold. Furthermore, by suggesting the possibility of atomic surface technology that can fundamentally prevent corrosion of oxidizable metals such as iron and nickel, Professor Jeong is receiving great expectations from academia and industry.
