Lim, Tae-won, Director of Future Innovation Technology Center, Hyundai Motor Company, is the best expert in hydrogen fuel cell industry, who has led the development of core technologies, from the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicle to the success of the world’s first mass production of hydrogen fuel cell vehicle in 2013.

In the early stage of the development of a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle in an environment, which has not been fully equipped with production facilities, Lim, Tae-won, Director of Future Innovation Technology Center has been involved in the development of fuel cell stack, which is the core component. Through countless trial and errors, he finally succeeded in developing a hydrogen fuel cell of a size, which can be mounted on a vehicle, at a competitive price.

In a situation with the weak domestic industrial foundation in the early stage of the development of fuel cell vehicle, he made more than 20 universities and 300 parts companies participate in the localization and constructed domestic hydrogen fuel cell development infrastructure, playing a leading role in localizing more than 90% of core components.

The hydrogen fuel cell vehicle uses hydrogen, which is a pollution-free raw material, so it produces no harmful exhaust gas. In addition, fuel injection in a short time becomes possible like gasoline and diesel and the mileage is very long, so it is predicted to be the mainstream of environmentally friendly cars in the future and also is expected to serve as a key technology that will raise the level automobile industry to the next level in the future.
